Al Kout Petrochemical Products Company
Al Kout Industrial Project Company has formed a strategic alliance with Champion Technologies, the second largest global oilfield production chemical company based in USA to manufacture and supply a range of oil field chemicals through its subsidiary Al Kout Petrochemical Products Company. With the expertise of Champion Technologies in offering innovative & environmentally friendly solutions to oil & gas production problems, our customers can enjoy more profitable operations through enhanced productivity.
Considering the oil fields in the Gulf countries and due to various difficulties in sourcing finished products and services from overseas, Champion Technologies found it essential to have a base in this region. Al Kout Petrochemical Products Company was selected as its partner of choice for the technical expertise, professional staff, proximity to market, excellent customer service, and attention to details.
The products supplied by Al Kout Petrochemical Products Company in collaboration with Champion Technologies are:

Scale Inhibitors

Scale is often defined as deposits of insoluble inorganic minerals. Common oilfield scales include calcium carbonate, barium sulfate, and metal sulfides.
While calcium carbonate scales deposits depend partially on pH and pressure, they generally occur when waters from different sources with different ion contents are mixed. The resulting deposits can quickly block tubulars and stop production.
In many cases, scale deposits can be dissolved, but for some scales (calcium fluoride in particular) mechanical scale removal is the only remedy.
Gyptron, the scale inhibitor, prevents scale deposits in well tubulars and field flow lines to help maximize production volume and reduce downtime.
Advanced Gyptron formulations modify crystal growth using functionalized polymers and other chemistries to slow and prevent scale crystal formation.
The inhibitors act in a threshold process that requires only a small number of growth-inhibitor molecules. In contrast to inefficient, costly chelation methods (such as those using EDTA – ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid), chemical volumes are reduced for improved treatment economics.
In most applications, low dosage rates of concentrated Gyptron formulations effectively treat the scaling problem. In severe scaling conditions, particularly with BaSO4, dose rates can be easily increased as required by formulation activity and inhibitor-to-scale specificity.

Corrosion Inhibitors

The production of gas and oil is often accompanied by water, either from the formation, from condensation, or from water injected as lift assist. Acid gases, such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are often present in produced fluids, and oxygen is sometimes a contaminant in the water used for injection. These acid gases increase the corrosivity of the waters to steel, and can significantly impact the safe operating life of production tubulars and equipment, production vessels, and transportation systems.
The control of corrosion in the oilfield can be a complex problem, requiring detailed analysis and a thorough understanding of the range of conditions expected during the life of the system prior to the development of a corrosion management plan.

Cortron:the corrosion inhibitor consists of a number of corrosion inhibitor formulations - some have been developed to address specific corrosion problems and others have been formulated to have wide applicability. Cortron products are proven performers with a solid history of "raising the bar" in providing cost-effective corrosion protection in all oilfield operations. Champion’s corrosion inhibitors are effective in the severe environments found in cutting-edge production systems such as those found in the North Slope, the Gulf of Mexico, Canada, Asia Pacific, and other geographic regions. Applications include controlling corrosion in all types of oilfield operations, including oil and gas production, processing, and transportation systems.

Biocides

Equipment and regulatory/contractual issues resulting from bacteria growth and the production of biogenic (bacterially-generated) hydrogen sulfide, including:
  • Reservoir fouling
  • Production equipment plugging and corrosion
  • Heat exchange equipment corrosion and fouling
  • Water disposal and water flood system corrosion and permeability damage
  • Pipeline and storage tank corrosion and product deterioration

Biocides control bacteria populations in drilling, completion, production, processing, and transportation operations.

Bactron:In mitigating these problems, Bactron improves profitability and safety by increasing production capacity through:
  • Reducing the need for costly well interventions
  • Lowering costs for piping and equipment maintenance
  • Reducing use of hydrogen sulfide scavengers to control biogenic H2S levels

Demulsifier

Oilfield emulsions are stable mixtures of immiscible components formed when produced water mixed intimately with produced crude is stabilized by naturally occurring emulsifiers and other produced sediments.
The mixing takes place as a two-phase produced fluid passes through a choke or valve, or any other component that commingles the two liquid phases (usually with high shear).
Naturally-occurring emulsifiers prevent droplets of the dispersed phase (usually water in an oilfield emulsion) from coalescing into a continuous phase. Some emulsions will break on standing, while others are quite stable and will remain as an emulsion indefinitely.

Emulstronis the demulsifier with a wide range of proven formulations for tough oilfield emulsion problems, from meeting crude oil sale specifications, to cleaning up produced water and enhancing the separation process.
Formulated from proven components and applied based on expert CTI analysis, Emulstron emulsion breakers are a powerful solution that targets individual emulsions.
As no two emulsions are alike, emulsion breaking can be a very complex task. Even emulsions from a single source can vary over time. The result is that emulsion breakers (or demulsifiers) must be selected and even formulated on a case-by-case basis—usually in the field.
While previous experience is certainly a critical success factor, and emulsion breakers that have worked in one location might be effective in another, ultimately each emulsion is unique and must be broken empirically.

Scale & Corrosion Inhibitors

Scortrondual and multipurpose scale and corrosion inhibitors provide a sophisticated response to complex oilfield production problems.
Because production problems are rarely simple or standalone, effective solutions must address a wide variety of conditions and economics. The versatile Scortron product line allows a customized response with specialized corrosion inhibitor blends containing:
  • Oil wetting and solids dispersing agents
  • Corrosion inhibitors
  • Scale inhibitors
  • Anti-foulants
  • Oxygen scavengers
  • Foaming agents
Most Scortron products are water-soluble blends of corrosion and scale inhibitors normally used in continuous injection applications. They are formulated for maximum versatility using a broad range of corrosion or scale inhibition chemistries mixed in a variety of ratios.
Scortron inhibitors are applied in a CTI process that first determines the root cause of production treating problems. A thorough analysis allows CTI experts to select the best product, apply it effectively and monitor it for optimal performance.
