Purpose of the job

 To provide support to the safety engineer in order to provide expertise, guidance, training enforces and ensures that the whole of AIP operates at world class Safety, Health and Environmental standards.

To ensure that the company operates at highest environmental standards and complies fully with ISO 14001:2004  and OHSAS 18001:2007.

 Essential duties and responsibilities

 

  • 1. To identify areas/locations/equipments/processes that contributes to any type of environmental pollution/damage.

  •  

  • 2. Identify and implement methods to monitor the parameters leading to such environmental pollution/damage. Take action to conserve resources and minimize all emissions and wastes.

  • 3. Regularly assess the impact of our activities and operations on the environment.

  • 4. Take measures to protect the natural environment and see that it is least affected by the company`s activities/operations.

  • 5. Prepare, develop and carry out specific job related training programs covering safety and environmental awareness.

  • 6. Ensure compliance with all latest EPA regulations and instructions

  • 7. Liaison with EMS Certifying /auditing body on all matters related to ISO14001:2004 certification

      •  

    Experience

    At least 5 years in Safety & Environmental Management system implementation in a large chemical process industry. At least 2 years experience in Environmental management/ISO 14001 implementation will be preferred.
     

    Qualification, Knowledge and Skills

    Bachelors degree in Safety/Environmental/Chemical/Mechanical/Industrial Engg from a reputed university
    Knowledge of ISO related quality systems and exposure of compliance related to ISO standards
    Time management
    Ability to meet deadlines
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Good knowledge of English language
    Arabic is desirable
    Good knowledge of MS office
    Good knowledge of chemical plant operations

    Newly acquired facility - Safewater Chemicals - UAE
    Safewater owns a chlor-alkali plant producing Caustic Soda, Sodium Hypochlorite and Hydrochloric Acid
    Alkout Industrial Projects Company has finished phase 1 of a 3 phase investment plan for their our newly acquired facility of Safe Water in Abu Dhabi. In this phase we have done a plant turnaround with major maintenance to improve reliability. The plant has been commissioned and is producing reliably according plan. We hope to finish phase two of the plan, another major expansion, in Q4 2012.
